Founded by producer Chris Patterson in 2009, the company originates and develops original intellectual property across film, television, documentary, and narrative audio for the UK and international markets. Causeway works closely with writers and creative partners to develop projects from early concept through script development, packaging, and market positioning.
Causeway operates a slate-based model, developing multiple projects across formats rather than focusing on single productions. This approach allows the company to secure development funding, attract creative talent, and bring projects to broadcasters, distributors, and international partners. The company retains ownership, or majority ownership, of the projects it originates, building a long-term catalogue of intellectual property while collaborating with production partners to bring projects to the screen.
Chris Patterson has worked in the screen industry for over two decades as a producer, developing and producing projects across film and television. His work has screened at major international festivals including Galway Film Fleadh, Raindance, Aesthetica, and Belfast Film Festival. In 2023, he produced the feature thriller Lie of the Land, which won Best New Irish Feature at the Galway Film Fleadh. Patterson also co-produced the Netflix series Senna, which received a Critics' Choice nomination.
Alongside its development slate, Causeway Pictures continues to support production and co-production activity throughout the UK and Ireland, providing regional expertise, local partnerships, and production support for incoming projects. While development now sits at the centre of the company's model, production services remain an active part of Causeway's role within the global screen industry.
