Lie of the Land is a Northern Ireland feature film directed by John Carlin, written by Tara Hegarty and produced by Chris Patterson and Margaret McGoldrick for Causeway Pictures.
The rural thriller follows farmers Kath and Matthew Ward, whose attempt to escape financial ruin leaves them fighting to protect the life they planned to abandon. The film won Best Irish First Feature at the 2023 Galway Film Fleadh.
Supported by Northern Ireland Screen through its New Talent Focus scheme, the production brought together regional cast, locations and filmmaking talent. Post-production was completed at Yellow Moon.
The project demonstrates Causeway Pictures' work producing independent feature films from Belfast for UK and international audiences, connecting original stories with production partners and distribution.
